MD Helicopters Announces New Ownership and Leadership

The Mesa, Arizona helicopter manufacturer, emerges from bankruptcy ready to stabilize and support customers with an eye on future growth. Brad Pedersen, the newly announced president of MD Helicopters LLC, is no-nonsense regarding the company's future. After three years of working through a bankruptcy process with a compilation of companies, Pedersen said that MD Helicopters is ready to focus on its core business – the customers and after-market support. The 35-year aerospace veteran said that the company is financially strong, and the bankruptcy was a collateralized loan fund that included ownership of several companies. VSR700 autonomous take-off and landing capabilities tested at sea

Marignane, 24 March, 2022 – Airbus Helicopters has begun trialing autonomous take-off and landing capabilities at sea for the VSR700, an unmanned aerial system (UAS) being developed in the frame of the SDAM (Système de drone aérien de la Marine) programme, conducted by the DGA (Direction générale de l’Armement - the French Armament General Directorate) for the French Navy . Trials were conducted using an optionally piloted vehicle (OPV) based on a modified Guimbal Cabri G2 equipped with the autonomous take-off and landing (ATOL) system developed for the VSR700. This flight test campaign paves the way for the upcoming demonstration of the VSR700, at sea, onboard a French Navy frigate.

NTSB Final Report: Preston, Georgia

On January 8, 2020, about 1339 eastern standard time, a Hughes OH-6A, N6186U, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Preston, GA. The commercial pilot and one crewmember sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was registered to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was operated as a public aerial observation flight.
