Bell Awarded Contract for SPINE Upgrades to H-1 Fleet

Amarillo, TX. (July 27, 2026) – Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has announced an estimated $300 million, firm-fixed-price, fixed-price incentive, and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the Department of Navy. This base plus three option years contract provides the Structural and Power Improvements for NextGen Effects (SPINE) upgrades on up to 49 U.S. Marine Corp AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom aircraft.

NTSB Final Report: Huntersville, WV

On July 10, 2026, about 0745 eastern daylight time, a Sikorsky S-76D helicopter, N93RT, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Huntersville, West Virginia. Safran and Aura Aero are strengthening their strategic partnership for the development of the turbogenerators that will power the ERA hybrid electric regional aircraft

Safran Helicopter Engines and Aura Aero have reached a new milestone in their partnership regarding the hybrid electric propulsion system of the ERA (Electric Regional Aircraft), the future 19-seater regional aircraft. The two companies have signed an agreement covering the development and integration of Safran turbogenerators for the ERA prototype, paving the way for the series production of its propulsion system. This agreement follows on from a memorandum of understanding in 2023 and represents a key milestone towards the aircraft’s maiden flight, certification and future entry into service.
