U.S. Army National Guard to operate first UH-72B in Arizona

Washington D.C., April 5, 2022 - After taking delivery of the first UH-72B Lakota helicopter in September last year, the U.S. Army National Guard is finalizing its training and will begin fielding the new helicopter with numerous state Guard units, beginning with Arizona. Subsequent states to operate the new 5-bladed UH-72B include Colorado and New Mexico later this year, followed by additional National Guard units as new UH-72B helicopters are delivered.

NTSB Final Report: Oxnard, CA

The operator reported that this was the helicopters third flight of the day. However, this was the first paint material load of the day. As the pilot made his third pass over the greenhouses, he noticed that he was using more left cyclic to maintain level flight. He continued to spray in attempt to correct any load imbalances, however, the helicopter continued to lean further to the right. The pilot maneuvered away from the greenhouses. The helicopter’s right turn continued to increase until it impacted the ground at about a 45o bank. A post impact fire ensued and completely consumed the helicopter.

Leonardo confirms solid position in the world helicopter civil market with new orders and deliveries

Following the recent success at Heli-Expo 2022 in Dallas, TX (8-10 March), Leonardo confirms its strong position in the commercial helicopter market announcing further advancements with recent sales of 23 aircraft of various models to several operators across Europe, North America and Latin America, primarily for VIP/corporate transport, energy support, and search and rescue. Total sales include 15 AW139 intermediate twins, three AW169s light intermediate, three AW109 GrandNew light twins, one AW119Kx single engine and one AW189 super medium twin engine helicopter. Combined orders are valued at nearly 256 million EUR, with deliveries between 2022 and 2023. Beyond sales, recent months also marked the introduction of new services offered by newly-accepted aircraft in various countries.
