New Zealand: the NH90 on every front

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) retired its fleet of UH-1H Iroquois in 2015 and now operates NH90s. The RNZAF was looking for a very versatile helicopter and that is exactly what it found with the TTH variant of the NH90. The eight aircraft purchased are being used today by No. 3 Squadron based in Ōhakea, on North Island. They are few in number, but their versatility enables them to handle a wide range of missions: from traditional military operations to support for different government agencies, including search and rescue as well as maritime operations, in the latter case with the NH90 embarked on the New Zealand Navy’s multi-role vessel, HMNZS Canterbury.

Air Force awards first airworthiness approval for human flight in electric aircraft program

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFNS) -- The U.S. Air Force has awarded the first airworthiness approval for a manned electric aircraft to BETA Technologies, a partner in the AFWERX Agility Prime program. This enables BETA to begin flying its ALIA aircraft in the Agility Prime program. The airworthiness award from the Air Force is the latest milestone in BETA’s test program after recently entering its next phase of flight testing.

NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Completes First One-Way Trip

NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter completed its fifth flight on the Red Planet today with its first one-way journey from Wright Brothers Field to an airfield 423 feet (129 meters) to the south. After arrival above its new airfield, Ingenuity climbed to an altitude record of 33 feet (10 meters) and captured high-resolution color images of its new neighborhood before touching down.
