The European Commission has decided to support Safran Helicopter Engines, MTU Aero Engines and Avio Aero in their technological research project known as SHARP (Sovereign High-performance Architecture for Rotorcraft Propulsion). This project, which aims to develop the scalable technological building blocks for a new state-of-art military helicopter engine, will be funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF) with a budget of around €25 million.

TUCSON, ARIZONA - June 11, 2026 – Universal Avionics (UA) - today announced that GFD GmbH (GFD), an Airbus company, has selected the InSight Flight Display System to modify its Learjet 35A/36A aircraft fleet. Scandinavian Avionics A/S (ScanAv) will develop the STC and install the flight deck upgrade. This upgrade aims to bring GFD’s aircraft to a common avionics standard by replacing a large array of cockpit instruments, which reintroduces sustainability and support for the lifecycle of the aircraft for key avionics equipment, while introducing new integrated capabilities for their core services of aerial target demonstrations.

In the framework of a fleet modernisation and reinforcement plan aimed at meeting a long-term rescue and offshore transport growth strategy, leading emergency aerial service provider Avincis announced orders for 15 Leonardo helicopters, including 10 AW169 light intermediate and 5 AW139 intermediate twin engine aircraft. These helicopters are expected to be delivered over the 2028-2031 period, sustaining the existing customer base as well as allowing to enter new markets across Europe.
