Guardia di Finanza opens Air-Naval Operations Simulation Centre in Italy

Guardia di Finanza (Italy’s Police Force, with general capability in economic and financial matters, is the only maritime Police Force in Italy) opened its Air-Naval Operations Simulation Centre today, during an official ceremony in the presence of institutional and Leonardo representatives. The new centre was developed by the company starting in 2020. NTSB Final Report: Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan

During the approach to the airfield at Camp Dwyer, the helicopter entered an uncommanded left yaw while approaching its destination. During the subsequent emergency landing, the helicopter impacted the ground and rolled on its right side, resulting in serious injuries to the three occupants and substantial damage to the helicopter. Investigation found there was no evidence of a preimpact structural failure, nor a main or tail rotor system failure, nor a malfunction of either engine.

Enstrom Helicopter First Flight

NTSB Final Report: Moab, UT

The pilot reported that, he was initiating a landing to a ledge. As the landing skids contacted the ground, the pilot felt the helicopter settle tail first. Startled by this, he abruptly raised the collective, unaware that he was holding forward cyclic input. As power was applied, the rear skids lifted off the ground first, creating a nose low attitude. The helicopter subsequently rolled over onto its right side substantially damaging the fuselage. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the helicopter that would have precluded normal operation.

Airbus Helicopters performed steadily in a complex 2022
