Garmin announces updates to the GI 275 electronic flight instrument

OLATHE, Kan./ - Garmin® International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., today announced that its updates for the GI 275 electronic flight instrument have been granted supplemental type certificate (STC) approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These updates add several enhancements and new capabilities to GI 275, including the option to control basic settings of the GTX™ 345 or GTX 345R transponders directly from a GI 275. Other new features include easier switching between GPSS and heading modes with third-party autopilots, plus the capability to drive the GFC™ 500 autopilot while serving as a standby attitude indicator interfaced with an original G500 series flight display.

SAF orders three H145s for EMS missions in France

Marignane, 16 June 2021– SAF Group will be operating three more five-bladed H145s for emergency medical services (EMS) in France. These three aircraft will be based in Grenoble, Valence, and Montpellier. They will complement the three H145s already ordered by SAF in 2018 and 2020, the first of which was delivered recently and will be deployed for EMS missions in Belgium.

LEONARDO BREAKS GROUND ON ADVANCED NEW HELICOPTERS LOGISTICS HUB IN SOUTH WEST ENGLAND

Leonardo announced today that building work will shortly commence on a new c.£30 million single-site logistics facility at Leonardo’s helicopter site in Yeovil. The ground-breaking facility, spanning an area of nearly 20,000m2, the equivalent of 2.7 football pitches, is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2022. The project sees the consolidation of eight existing warehouses into one all-encompassing logistics hub.

Airbus establishes Zero-Emission Development Centres in Germany and France

Toulouse, 14 June 2021 – Airbus has decided to concentrate its efforts for metallic hydrogen tanks in a complementary setup by creating Zero-Emission Development Centres (ZEDC) at its sites in Bremen (Germany) and in Nantes (France). The goal of the ZEDC is to achieve cost-competitive cryogenic tank manufacturing to support the successful future market launch of ZEROe and to accelerate the development of hydrogen-propulsion technologies. The design and integration of tank structures is crucial to the performance of a future hydrogen aircraft.

Epic Flight Academy Uses Frasca Motion Simulator to Train Pilots Faster

Urbana, IL. Frasca International & Epic Flight Academy have collaborated to create a new flight training curriculum utilizing a full motion Cessna 172 flight simulator. The curriculum has shown success in with students to earn their private pilot’s license faster than the national average of 70 hours. Students training with Epic on the Frasca motion simulator, typically finish their private pilot’s license within FAA minimum flight hours.

Leonardo delivers first TH-73A training helicopter to U.S. Navy

Philadelphia, 10 June 2021 – At a ceremony on its Philadelphia campus and under the backdrop of the Stars and Stripes, Leonardo officially delivered the first TH-73A training helicopter to the U.S. Navy earlier today. The ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Kenneth Whitesell, commander of Naval Air Forces and Commander, Naval Air Force U.S. Pacific Fleet; Rear Admiral Gregory Harris, Director of Air Warfare Division (N98); and Captain Holly Shoger, Program Manager of Naval Undergraduate Flight Training Systems Program. Also attending the ceremony was Leonardo Helicopters Managing Director Gian Piero Cutillo and members of local, state and federal elected delegations, including Congressman Donald Norcross and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.

Peter Wheatley Appointed as Vice President/General Manager of StandardAero Helicopters Business Unit
