HAI Statement On May 10 NTSB Hearing

Alexandria, Va. (May 11, 2022) – Helicopter Association International (HAI) appreciates and supports the work of the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for its May 10 hearing to announce the probable cause and draft findings and recommendations related to a fatal air-tour helicopter accident that occurred on Dec. 26, 2019, near Kekaha, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai. HAI extends its deepest condolences to the families and coworkers of those who died in the accident.

NTSB Final Report: Truckee, California

On November 30, 2017, at 1540 Pacific standard time, a Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC) R22, N47WH, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Truckee, California. The two pilots were seriously injured. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Drexel Hill, PA

On January 11, 2022, about 1255 eastern standard time, a Eurocopter EC-135 P2+, N531LN, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. The airline transport pilot was seriously injured. The two medical crewmembers and the patient were not injured. The helicopter was operated by Air Methods Corporation as a Title14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air ambulance flight.
