BELL DELIVERS SUBARU BELL 412EPX TO GUATEMALA AIR FORCE

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala (Dec. 19, 2022) – In a joint ceremony to mark the 101st anniversary of the Guatemalan Air Force, Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, delivered two SUBARU BELL 412EPX aircraft during an acceptance ceremony at La Aurora International Airport. The aircraft are part of an Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract signed between Bell and the U.S. Army Multinational Aviation Special Programs Office (MASPO) earlier this year.

HAI Applauds Veto of NY “Stop the Chop” Bill

Alexandria, Va. (Dec. 16, 2022) – Helicopter Association International (HAI) commends New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) for her veto of New York Senate Bill 7493A, known as the “Stop the Chop” bill. In addition to banning nonessential helicopters at New York City’s West 30th Street Heliport, the legislation would have allowed anyone to sue an operator, pilot, flight department, line-service personnel, or company employee operating in the state for alleged helicopter noise pollution, even if the flight in question was conducted in accordance with federal law and regulations.

NTSB Final Report: Cedar Key, FL

The pilot was performing aerial application flights during which he returned to the landing zone five times to receive additional product. He recalled spending the majority of his time troubleshooting a spray rate system issue and was not paying attention to the fuel level while ground personnel were loading the product. During climb out on the final spray, the engine lost all power. During the subsequent autorotation and hard landing on a gravel road, the tail boom and tail rotor drive shaft sustained substantial damage.

NTSB Final Report: Ely, NV

The pilot reported that, he was using a helicopter to drive horses and misjudged his height above the terrain when a horse unexpectedly turned toward him. He pulled back on the cyclic, the tail rotor struck the terrain, and the helicopter immediately started a yaw to the right. The pilot rolled the throttle off to slow the turn and cushioned the landing by adding collective.
