Aviation Specialties Unlimited Receives FAA TSO-C164c Approval for Lightweight E3™ Panoramic Night Vision System

Boise, Idaho – August 24, 2026 – Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU), a leading provider of night vision solutions for aviation operations worldwide, today announced that its Lightweight E3™ Panoramic Night Vision Goggle (E3 PANO) system has received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO)-C164c approval, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of enhanced night vision technology for civil aviation.

The FAA's TSO-C164c approval validates that the ASU E3 PANO meets the rigorous performance, quality, and airworthiness standards required for use in civil aviation applications. This certification provides operators with next-generation panoramic night-vision capability designed to improve situational awareness and operational effectiveness in demanding flight environments.

The Lightweight E3 expands a pilot's field of view beyond traditional night vision systems, offering enhanced peripheral vision while reducing weight and pilot fatigue. Engineered for public safety, air medical, utility, law enforcement, and other specialized aviation missions, the system delivers superior visual performance during low-light and nighttime operations.

"Receiving FAA TSO-C164c approval for the lightweight E3 PANO represents a major achievement for our engineering and certification teams," said ASU Vice President of Sales and Marketing Dan Meyer. "This approval demonstrates our commitment to providing aviation operators with innovative technologies that enhance safety, mission effectiveness, and pilot performance. We are proud to bring this advanced panoramic capability to the civil aviation market."

The Lightweight E3 was developed to address evolving operator requirements for expanded visual awareness without compromising comfort or operational durability. By combining panoramic viewing capability with a lightweight design, the system helps crews maintain greater situational awareness during critical mission phases, including takeoff, landing, obstacle avoidance, search and rescue, and tactical operations.

FAA TSO-C164c approval enables the E3 PANO to be integrated into approved aircraft configurations through applicable installation and operational approval processes. Operators can now benefit from a certified panoramic NVG solution backed by ASU's decades of experience supporting night vision aviation programs around the globe.

"As mission demands continue to increase, operators require technologies that provide greater awareness and confidence in challenging environments," added  ASU Vice President of Business Development Chad St. Francis.  "The E3 PANO’s FAA approval underscores our dedication to advancing night vision technology while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance."

The E3 PANO is available immediately for qualified operators and aviation programs seeking enhanced nighttime operational capabilities.
