BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky, March 11, 2025 Two leading aerospace companies are teaming to bring their respective equipment and services to global helicopter operators.
Recoil Aerospace Inc. (Recoil), designer of the world’s most advanced aerial fire suppression systems (AFSS), has announced Alabama-based Ace Aeronautics (Ace) as a new distributor for the Recoil Tsunami line of AFSS tank systems for the UH-60 Black Hawk series helicopters.
US-based Recoil offers both internal and external AFSS tank systems for the UH-60 series.
“We greatly value Ace’s expertise in refurbishing Black Hawk helicopters and reselling them into the global market,” states Recoil President Joseph Rice. “It is a natural fit to offer AFSS Tanks as an option for Ace customers to consider.”
Ace has a very strong presence in the Global Market based on the high-quality, refurbished UH-60 aircraft they sell combined with attractive price point of the product.
Kentucky-based Recoil has a wide-ranging list of existing international approvals. The Recoil H225 STC is already in place in the United States and Canada as well as the Republic of Korea, Brazil, Morocco, Australia and other regions.
Tsunami AFSS units are available for acquisition for 2025 North American and global firefighting operations.
Adding Ace represents a key expansion of the 'Recoil Dealer Network' according to Rice.
“Building a small number of Strategic Distributors is important to Recoil’s desire to have a global market presence which supports Aerial Firefighters, offering them new, innovative technology,” adds Rice.
And the global dealer network can overcome language or custom barriers, helping better support the relationship with aircraft operators via support from either the Distributor or Recoil.
Recoil AFSS-equipped aircraft continue to fight wildfires during the current southern hemisphere fire season in Australia and other areas.
Key features of the external tank system include: underside fuselage mounting (requiring no modifications to the landing gear); retractable tank design; fastest airspeed available; and rapid hover-filling.
A performance upgrade in capabilities from legacy external water buckets, firefighting crews are able to fly over urban population centers without the hazard of underslung, jettisonable loads.
And the UH-60 internal AFSS can be installed/removed in minutes, also allowing ground-fill operations.
Importantly, Recoil is the only US-based company producing these modern, fuselage-mounted, fully retractable AFSS tanks, in partnership with its Bowling Green, Kentucky-based affiliate Aerospace Composites Solutions (ACS).
Team Recoil is at VAI’s 2025 Verticon Conference in Dallas and looks forward to discussing features of its Tsunami AFSS with attendees.
