Welcome to the New Age

Posted 3 years 287 days ago ago by Admin

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my system blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

I never thought that I would be quoting the 2012 hit song, “Radioactive,” by the Imagine Dragons, in Rotorcraft Pro magazine, but every time I tried to think of an opener for this issue’s letter, that song kept popping into my head. “Welcome to the new age,” indeed!

For the last two and a half months, COVID-19 has changed the world for virtually every person and every industry. Although the short-term impact on civil aviation has been devastating, the battered and bruised helicopter industry adapted as much as possible and will live to fly another day.

In an April 2020 Rotorcraft Pro web and social media survey we asked pilots, “Has the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on your helicopter operations?” Of those that responded, 44% indicated that it has had a “devastating” impact, with another 39% indicating that there was a minor-to-moderate impact on their operations.

Going Digital

Everyone is having to adjust in this new age . . . including Rotorcraft Pro!

In order to continue to serve our clients and the industry, Rotorcraft Pro will be published exclusively in a digital format for the remainder of 2020. Assuming the industry returns to some level of normalcy, it’s our plan to resume printing the paper version of the publication in January - February 2021.

Fortunately, the Rotorcraft Pro Media Network has been building its digital audience for many years now and has amassed an impressive industry reach of over 450,000. We will digitally publish this year’s remaining three issues (July-Aug, Sept-Oct, and Nov-Dec) as normally scheduled.

The  Rotorcraft Pro team is grateful to our loyal readers and advertisers for continuing to support our mission to inform, educate, and entertain the working professionals in the helicopter industry—the rotorcraft pros—in these most interesting and challenging times.

If you would like to receive your digital magazine directly in your inbox, you may subscribe here for free: https://bit.ly/RotorcraftProMag_Subscribe

Stay tuned for the next issue where we dive into how helicopter operators are specifically adjusting their procedures to account for coronavirus. Welcome to the new age.
