NBAA's Board of Directors named Dan Hubbard interim chief operating officer on Sept. 18, putting him in charge of day-to-day operations while President and CEO Ed Bolen takes a leave of absence for cancer treatment. Hubbard has spent 22 years at the association, the last 18 as senior vice president for communications.Board chair John Witzig wished Bolen a full recovery as he steps back to focus on his health. Pivoting to the COO role he said, "Dan has a strong strategic view of NBAA's mission and all its initiatives" and will run daily operations, including preparations for next month's NBAA-BACE, with backing from what Witzig called an experienced leadership team.Hubbard brings a steady hand to the wheel with experience that includes NBAA's external affairs, partnerships and advocacy work, including conventions the association has run on four continents. "I have every confidence in our ability to execute an outstanding NBAA-BACE next month, while continuing to advance the industry's policy agenda and supporting the operational and other needs of our members," Hubbard said.Additionally, NBAA elevated Heidi Williams to senior vice president, operations, filling the role Douglas Carr left when he retired in July. Williams currently serves as vice president, air traffic services and infrastructure, where she oversees the association's coordination with the FAA and other government and industry stakeholders. She also leads NBAA's emerging technologies initiatives and its airspace and air traffic modernization work.The leadership changes occur at a pivotal moment on the calendar with NBAA-BACE scheduled for Oct. 20-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Henderson Executive Airport.
