On that note, StandardAero has heeded the call with a 70,000 sq ft expansion of its Winnipeg facility that came online Sept. 3, increasing the location's footprint by about 40%. The expanded facility provides full MRO support for the GE Aerospace CF34-3/8 and CFM International CFM56 turbofan engines. The CF34-8 powers the Embraer E170/E175 and the MHIRJ CRJ700/CRJ900, while the CF34-3 is used on both the CRJ200 and the Bombardier Challenger 600/850. The listed engines and aircraft are popular in charter, corporate and private-owner markets. Beyond the Challenger line, CFM56 already serves that market through the Boeing Business Jet and Airbus Corporate Jet and VIP conversions of the 737 NG and A320ceo. StandardAero stated growing demand among CF34 and CFM56 operators as part of the rationale for the move. While additional capacity will not eliminate maintenance bottlenecks overnight, it can help ease pressure in a busy support environment.
