Waco Aircraft Corporation ceases operations and closes plant in Michigan

Waco Aircraft Corporation has ceased operations and terminated all 60 employees at its plant in Battle Creek, Michigan. Employees were sent an email on Wednesday morning telling them not to report for work. A sign was posted on the front door of the building stating that the owners have decided to cease aircraft production and maintenance services, effective immediately. More information is expected to be released on Friday. No news of the closure has been announced on the company's website.Waco bi-planes have modern avionics and safety features, but are aesthetically based on the 1920s designs of the original company. It offers two base models, the YMF-5 and Great Lakes, as well as a light sport Junkers A50 monoplane based on a German aircraft from the 1930s.
