Tecnam delivers first P2006T NG SMP to expand AVIATEK Group's fleet

Tecnam announced on Thursday that it delivered a new Tecnam P2006T NG Special Mission Platform (SMP) aircraft. The newly acquired twin-piston aircraft is part of a fleet expansion for the Colombian aviation and technology company, AVIATEK Group. It represents the official launch of the company's European operations and will fly under its Polish sister company, EKOLOT. A second P2006T NG SMP is planned for delivery later in March and will be shipped directly to Colombia. Tecnam states that it will be the first P2006T NG in the country and will be specifically tasked to support special mission contracts that AVIATEK holds throughout the Latin American region. "The introduction of the Tecnam P2006T NG marks an important milestone for AVIATEK and for Colombia," said Luis Zapata, AVIATEK Group president and CEO. "As a Colombian company, we are proud to pioneer the introduction of this new generation aircraft in the country, expanding the availability of modern special mission aviation platforms in the region. This acquisition strengthens AVIATEK's operational capabilities and reinforces our commitment to supporting surveillance, environmental monitoring, risk management, disaster response, and humanitarian operations across Latin America." The P2006T aircraft family is widely used by professional flight training organizations due to reliability and low operating costs. Tecnam claims the NG version was developed in cooperation with operators and training academies to advance and refine the platform. The aircraft is powered by twin fuel-injected Rotax 912iSc3 engines for low fuel consumption and an increased maximum take-off weight for greater payload capacity. The cockpit features the Garmin G1000 NXi, which Tecnam states ensures that pilots train on avionics that match modern airline and commercial environments.
