The FAA has released a notification that certain parts manufactured and sold by Superior Panel Technology are not FAA-approved.
The administration states that Superior Panel Technology's Fiberlite Aircraft Lighting System (Part #FL318) and all sub-assembly articles (Part #FL318CO) may not meet FAA production approval. The parts were produced and sold for installation on type-certificated aircraft between August 2024 and August 2025. The information was discovered during an FAA Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP) investigation.
The only stated characteristic that differentiates the non-approved parts from the approved parts is that they were shipped from an Idaho location. The FAA recommends that all aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers, maintenance organizations, and parts suppliers and distributors inspect their aircraft and aircraft parts inventory for the part numbers. If the Fiberlite system is discovered in existing inventory, it should be kept separate from other parts so it is not accidentally installed before the FAA can decide on its eligibility for installation.
