February fuel prices show first 100LL increase in months as SAF pattern emerges

Overall Price MovementMore pockets of ideal flying weather are popping up as we glide into spring… for the most part, that is. While Southwestern states are experiencing drier conditions, those in the Midwest and Great Lakes areas are seeing plenty of precipitation. Still, those itching to fly are hitting the throttle whenever they get a window.Let's break down the retail aviation fuel price movement GlobalAir.com tracked in February.February's national average for 100LL marks the first monthly increase since March 2025, breaking a long-term downward trend. That said, the increase was minor, adjusting from $6.41 in January to $6.42 in February. After a small dip and brief plateau, the national average for JetA rose nine cents month over month, averaging $6.34 in February compared to January's $6.25.The SAF teeter-totter continues, showing an average price of $8.71 in February. A notable SAF pattern has emerged in recent months: Since August 2025, SAF pricing has stabilized between a two-tier range, alternating between highs around $8.80 and lows around $8.70 month to month. While exact averages deviate slightly, the trend continues in February. At the regional level, most FAA regions remained steady month to month, deviating between $0.01 and $0.05 from the month prior. The New England region shows a notable $0.10 increase in average prices for JetA and SAF, while the Western Pacific region shows a $0.16 increase in SAF prices.Looking to the future, early March averages indicate an increase in prices across the board. While the rest of the month awaits, this may be a direct result of the geopolitical climate in the Middle East, especially when oil futures are at their highest since July 2024. Still, futures are well below the spike during the 2022 Russia invasion of Ukraine.Top Performing AirportsOur top-performing airports for February indicate activity in core business aviation markets, around seasonal migrations and through international gateways.GlobalAir.com's most visited airport pages in February were:John F.
