Gulfstream G700 certified in India; Canada approves G700 and G800

Canada Certification Transport Canada certified the Gulfstream G700 and G800 business jets on Monday, less than a month after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs over the planes' status. The approvals follow U.S. President Donald Trump's threat on Jan. 29 to decertify all Canadian-made aircraft and impose a 50% tariff on any aircraft imported into America until Canada certifies the U.S.-made Gulfstream G500, G600, G700 and G800 jets. While all Canadian aircraft were included, President Trump specifically targeted the Bombardier Global Express. Aviation experts claimed that decertification was unlikely, but that the tariffs were more plausible. The Gulfstream G700 and G800 were approved despite concerns about de-icing that were flagged by the FAA, according to CBC News. The FAA granted Gulfstream a limited-time exemption from certain fuel system icing rules for the G700 and G800 in 2024. The company has until the end of 2026 to prove that the two jets can function properly in conditions where ice may form in the fuel system. The certification enables operators to register their Gulfstream aircraft, whether commercially or privately, within Canadian airspace and will expand market access for Gulfstream. India Certification Gulfstream also announced on Thursday that the Gulfstream G700 has been certified by India's Office of the Director General of Civil Aviation. The office previously approved the Gulfstream G500 and G600 in the second half of 2025. "We are seeing strong momentum in India as interest in our next-generation aircraft continues to grow," said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. "The advanced technology and safety features of our visionary fleet, combined with outstanding range, speed and cabin environment, are major differentiators for customers. The G700 in particular offers a transformative advantage with its globe-spanning range and the most spacious cabin in the industry. We look forward to continued growth of the Gulfstream fleet for customers throughout India and around the world."RELATED STORIES:Transport Canada officially certifies Gulfstream G500 and G600FAA expects Canadian certification of U.S.-made Gulfstream aircraft soonAviation leaders say Trump decertification threat unlikely, warn tariffs pose real risk Gulfstream G700 and G800 Gulfstream claims the G800 is the world's longest-range business aircraft. The jet has the lowest cabin altitude in the industry at 2,840 ft when flying at 41,000 ft. Gulfstream also states that there is 100% fresh air in the cabin with a plasma ionization air purification system and 16 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows. The G700 can fly 7,750 nm at Mach 0.85 and 6,650 nm at Mach 0.90. The jet has over 90 city-pair speed records. It also has a plasma ionization air purification system and a low cabin altitude. Customers can choose multiple interior options, including internet connectivity packages, a circadian lighting system or a grand suite featuring a fixed bed and shower.
