Boeing recieves FAA and EASA qualification for 777-9 flight training simulators

Boeing has announced that the FAA and the EASA have issued simulator qualification certificates granting initial qualification to its 777-9 flight training simulators. The simulators were developed in collaboration with manufacturer CAE. The devices include a full-flight simulator and a flight training device that is designed to replicate the 777-9's systems. The software is meant to model flight dynamics and environmental conditions to provide realistic training for pilots. The simulators are located at the Boeing Training Campus in Gatwick, U.K. and will be used to validate and approve training courseware before student pilots can begin their training. "Securing these approvals is an important step as we prepare for the start of flight training," said Capt. Gary Mandy, 777X chief technical pilot. "Pilots will benefit from an immersive training experience that will help ensure our customers' operational readiness for the 777-9." Features of the 777-9 include: Large-format displays with touchscreen capability. Optional for dual head-up displays A redesigned pilot seat An indicator for folding wingtips that shows if they are extended, in motion or folded Integration of portable Electronic Flight Bag capability "This qualification is the result of a multi-year effort between CAE and Boeing's leading experts," said Alexandre Prevost, CAE president of Civil Aviation. "We're excited to continue this strong collaboration as we deliver full-flight simulators to our mutual customers around the world."
