Blackhawk and Seair complete first Caravan XP140 engine+ upgrade

?(Image from Blackhawk Facebook)Blackhawk and Seair have announced the near completion of the first Blackhawk XP140 Engine+ and Yukon four-blade propeller upgrade to a Cessna Caravan. The upgraded aircraft will be launched on Seair's expanded Victoria-Vancouver Harbour route for faster, quieter and more efficient travel. The new additions are supposed to improve takeoff performance, increase cruise speed and provide better operations on short runways, water and dock operations, according to Aviation Pros. "For our guests, this means faster flights and an even more reliable experience," said Seair on LinkedIn."For the communities we operate in, it supports more efficient and considerate harbour operations."Improvements from the engine include 28% more horsepower, 13.6% shorter take off and 35% better climb rate, according to Aero-News. The Yukon four-blade propeller includes 17% shorter take-off distance, 40% less ground roll and 10.6% faster climb rate. The cruise speed should increase to 21 knots, which would cut 5 minutes from Harbour-to-Harbour travel. Seair operates seven Caravan aircraft and plans to upgrade at least 2 more to modernize its fleet.
