?(Flying Bulls restored Lockheed P-38 Lightning)Austria's The Flying Bulls announced on Wednesday that two restored aircraft from its collection will appear at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 on July 20-26 at the Wittman Regional Airport (OSH). The announcement was made at the International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Flying Bull's collection has over 40 aircraft ranging from World War II fighters to modern helicopters. This will be the first time the group has crossed the Atlantic to the U.S. and will be its only public U.S. air show appearance in 2026. The two restored aircraft showcased will be a Douglas DC-6B and a Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
"The moment has arrived - we are crossing the Atlantic and we're coming to Oshkosh," said Eskil Ambal, CEO of The Flying Bulls. "Our ride across the Atlantic is in a DC-6, just as she was meant to do. But we couldn't let her go alone. You never, ever, ever leave your wingman. So the P-38 is coming with her."
The DC-6B was built in 1958 and was originally owned by Yugoslavian airline JAT. It was later sold to the leader of Zambia, Kenneth Launda, as a luxury personal aircraft in the 1970s before it was abandoned at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN). The aircraft was recovered by the Flying Bulls and restored over the course of three years.
The P-38 is a twin-tail fighter aircraft developed by Lockheed during WWII and is the only model of its kind in Europe that is still in flying condition. It was brought to Europe from the U.S. and is currently housed at the Flying Bulls' Hangar-7 in Salzburg.
The Flying Bulls aircraft will be featured at AirVenture's Boeing Plaza and will fly in its afternoon airshows.
