The FAA has released updated advisory circulars (AC) that affect pilots, flight instructors and light-sport repairmen as part of the MOSAIC final rule implementation.
AC 61-146 provides guidance on sport pilot and instructor certification, training, and operating privileges in accordance with MOSIAC. It clarifies which aircraft are sport pilot-eligible and any other training that may be required. It also explains the new simplified flight controls designation, including how pilots and instructors qualify and train in aircraft certificated with simplified controls.
AC 61-65K is the new primary endorsement and certification guidance for Part 61 aircraft. It adds new sample endorsements, including those for night operations, controllable pitch propeller and retractable landing gear. It also updates the language to better reflect current sport pilot privileges.
