Search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 to resume after 11 years

The Ministry of Transport of Malaysia announced on Wednesday that the search for Malaysia Airlines flight 370 will resume on Dec. 30, 11 years after the aircraft disappeared. The ministry stated that Ocean Infinity, an American marine robotics company, will intermittently search for 55 days in a targeted area that has the highest likelihood of locating the aircraft. The location of this area was not stated. The Malaysian government had approved a search for the aircraft's wreckage back in March but had to cancel it due to bad weather conditions, according to CNBC. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was a Boeing 777 that had 239 people on board. It took off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) on March 8, 2014, and disappeared from radar less than an hour later. Multiple searches have been conducted to find its wreckage, including one in 2018 that was also conducted by Ocean Infinity. While some debris has been found since, the majority of the aircraft has never been found, and no one is certain what happened to cause such an accident. "I truly hope this next phase gives us the clarity and peace we've been so desperately longing for, for us and our loved ones, since March 8th, 2014." The Ministry of Transport stated that the development underscores the Government of Malaysia's commitment to providing closure to the families affected by this tragedy.
