Vertical Aerospace announced on Tuesday that it will soon begin transition flight testing of its VX4 eVTOL aircraft.
The VX4 has eight propellers, and the front four can tilt to provide control over the elevation and direction of the aircraft. It is designed for urban transport with a range of 100 miles and a cruise speed of 150 mph. The company's engineering and test teams have completed simulation, ground and flight testing in collaboration with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Vertical claims that the VX4 meets all 200 CAA Minimum Safe Aircraft requirements.
"Over 2025, Vertical has shown that when we set targets, we deliver," said CEO Stuart Simpson. "Whilst maintaining our industry-leading capital efficiency, we are not only demonstrating all piloted flight phases, but we are the only eVTOL OEM that has done so under stringent regulatory scrutiny - as mandated by the UK/European Permit to Fly regime. I am proud to lead Vertical, which has both the best-in-class eVTOL on the market and the sector's clearest path to profitability."
Vertical also announced that it will release the first images of its certification aircraft cabin, which it claims is the largest in the sector. The company plans to unveil the full-size aircraft design on Dec. 10 at the 2025 London launch event.
