Firefighters responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. and assisted with a Cessna 150, a Cherokee 140 and another unknown aircraft that had caught fire, according to Avbrief. Two more had to be moved to avoid damage. The Avon Park Fire Department reportedly arrived first, followed by the Highlands County Fire Rescue.
"I have no details to release at this time since this is an ongoing investigation," said Fire Chief Andrew Marcy. "The units that responded were Avon Park Engine 5 and Engine 5-2, and me, we also brought our trailer to get more firefighting foam on scene if needed. Highlands County responded with Battalion 1, Engine 7, Engine 9 and a Highlands County Rescue Unit along with the Highlands County Emergency Manager."

It is currently unknown what caused the fire or who owned the aircraft that was destroyed. The investigation is being led by the Florida State Fire Marshal with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene assisting.
