Sky Harbour Group Corp. announced Wednesday that the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners has authorized a ground lease agreement allowing the company to develop a Home Base Operator campus at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), which serves DeKalb County and the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Sky Harbour is an aircraft company, building what it calls the nation's first network of Home Base Operator campuses for business aircraft, according to a release.
The proposed development at PDK would span about 13 acres and include state-of-the-art hangars, dedicated line services for based tenants, and amenities designed to offer "the shortest time to wheels-up in business aviation," the company said.
The project is expected to create hundreds of local jobs and generate economic benefits for DeKalb County. PDK is Georgia's top business aviation airport and one of the busiest general aviation hubs in the country.
The DeKalb-Peachtree location will become Sky Harbour's 20th home-base airport. The company currently has campus locations at Houston's Sugar Land Regional Airport (SGR), Nashville International Airport (BNA), Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport (OPF), San Jose Mineta Airport (SJC), Southern California's Camarilla Airport (CMA), Seattle's King County International Airport - Boeing Field (BFI), Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (DVT), Dallas Addison Airport (ADS), and Denver Centennial Airport (APA); and campuses in development at Chicago Executive Airport (PWK), Connecticut Bradley International Airport (BDL), New York Hudson Valley Regional Airport (POU), Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), New York Stewart International Airport (SWF), Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), New Jersey Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN), Portland Hillsboro Airport (HIO), and Long Beach Airport (LGB).
"DeKalb-Peachtree Airport represents a triple win," Sky Harbour CEO Tal Keinan said in a statement, citing benefits for county residents, Atlanta's business aviation community, and the company. "This is the culmination of a five-year effort to enter the number one airport in one of the nation's most robust and fastest-growing business aviation markets."
Sky Harbour's facility will also include hangar space to house late-model business aircraft of various sizes, office space, operational infrastructure, a generous ramp, and car parking.
