(Image from Diamond Aircraft website)The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved Hartzell Propeller's 3-blade Polaris carbon fiber propeller for use on the Diamond DA40 NG aircraft. The propeller will now be available as a factory option for customers.
Hartzell claims that the propeller offers better performance and durability compared to standard propellers. It is reportedly has improved climb rates, a 2 to 3 KTAS increase in cruise speed, and a noise signature of just 74.1 dB(A).
"The Top Prop performance conversion kit for the DA40 NG includes our carbon fiber propeller, choice of a white or metallic silver composite spinner, and complete STC documentation," said Jon Stoy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Hartzell Propeller. The propeller is covered by Hartzell's warranty through the first overhaul cycle of a 2,400-hour or 6-year Time Between Overhaul (TBO). It features a Bantam aluminum hub and was designed specifically for the Austro Engine E4-A.
For owners who want to add the propeller to their DA40 NG, a conversion kit is available for ones equipped with either MÄM 40-434 or OÄM 40-310.
