Airlines for America (A4A) announced on Aug. 18 that former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu will become the association's new president and CEO.
Sununu served four terms as the 82nd Governor of the State of New Hampshire from 2017 to 2025. According to the NBAA, New Hampshire has more than 200 incorporated towns, many of which are served by general aviation. During his time as Governor, Sununu cut and phased out the Interest andamp; Dividends Tax for retirees, reduced property taxes, approved voluntary paid family medical leave and tax relief to employers and small businesses.
"I am honored to join Airlines for America during this critical moment for an aviation industry that supports over 10 million jobs and serves as a key economic driver in communities big and small across the country," said Sununu. "I look forward to working closely with our Board, President Trump and Secretary Duffy, Congress, and other aviation stakeholders to support the ongoing investment and overhaul of our air traffic control infrastructure. Strengthening and modernizing our system is vital for making the safest mode of transportation even safer and more efficient and maintaining the global competitiveness of the U.S. airline industry."

NBAA welcomes Sununu as CEO and states it looks forward to working together toward a comprehensive upgrade of the nation's ATC system.
"Chris Sununu is a widely respected and highly successful governor who will be a powerful voice for aviation in the United States and around the world," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "We look forward to working closely with him as A4A, NBAA and over 50 other aviation associations advocate for our shared priorities, including the transformation to a brand-new air traffic control (ATC) system, through the Modern Skies Coalition."
Sununu will assume the position on Sept. 9, replacing Nick Calio after 15 years of service. Calio will remain on A4A as CEO Emeritus through the end of the year.
