Keith Brunquist, dedicating over a decade to its restoration, was motivated by familial ties and a passion for the aircraft he fi rst encountered as a child in Anchorage, Alaska.Originally designed for liaison missions, the Boeing YL-15 is noted for its unconventional design, featuring a blimp-like fuselage, expansive 40-foot wingspan with fl aperons and spoilers, and a cockpit providing unmatched observational capabilities. Its ability to take off and land on varied terrains, facilitated by adaptable landing gear suitable for fl oats or skis, exemplifi es its versatility.Produced between 1946 and 1949, the YL-15s served with the U.S. Fish andamp; Wildlife Service in Alaska before being phased out.
