Photo of Challenger 350 from BombardierSkyservice Business Aviation and Gogo Business Aviation have received Supplemental Type Certification approval from Transport Canada for the Gogo 5G system on the Bombardier Challenger 300 series aircraft.
Skyservice is a Gogo-authorized dealer in Canada. The certification was completed on Sept. 1. A comprehensive Transport Canada Civil Aviation STC was followed by FAA validation and available for Challenger 300 operators who install a Gogo AVANCE L5, along with the full Gogo 5G provisional kit.
"Skyservice manages one of the largest fleets of Bombardier aircraft in Canada and is also an authorized service facility for Bombardier and a business aviation dealer for Gogo," Skyservice President and CEO Benjamin Murray said. "We are thrilled to provide innovative, world-class 5G service for our clients and customers from around the world looking for data-heavy interactive communication solutions."
Gogo completed the construction of the Gogo 5G network in the contiguous U.S. in October 2022 and is now expanding its network in Canada. The full expansion into Canada is expected to be completed in 2024. Gogo 5G is expected to deliver ~25 Mbps on average, including peak speeds in the 75-80 Mbps range. This will allow the passengers to use data-heavy interactive services like video conferencing, live TV and gaming with lower latency and higher throughput.
