EBAA welcomes new secretary-general

The European Business Aviation Association welcomes Holger Krahmer as the new Secretary-General, starting Jan. 1, 2024. Krahmer has nearly two decades of service to EU institutions, bringing is expert knowledge of the political landscape in Brussels. He served in the European Parliament from 2004 to 2014, using his influence amongst major dossiers in the transportation sector and leading talks on incorporating airlines into the EU's Emission Trading Scheme and the Single European Sky initiative. Since he left the Parliament in 2015, Krahmer has played roles within the automotive sector like with Opel/Groupe PSA as the Director of European Affairs. In recent years he has been the face of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG in Brussels as the Head of the Group Representative Office. "We are very pleased to welcome Holger at EBAA, especially during these challenging times for Business aviation in Europe" EBAA Chairman Juergen Wiese said. "Given his diverse industry experience, notable tenure in Brussels as a legislator, and a commendable record in transport industry advocacy, we are optimistic about fortifying both EBAA and European Business Aviation under his guidance." Before his time with the EU, Krahmer worked within the banking sector in institutions like Commerzbank and Berliner Bank, from 1990 to 2004.RELATED STORY:Remembering EBAA leader Athar Husain Khan, dead at 60 Krahmer's recent appointment brings his unique insight and expertise of the aviation and automotive sectors within the EU to EBAA. His leadership will improve the EBAA's stance in business aviation in Europe and represent the interests of the over 700 entity-strong member base. The EBAA is looking forward to a new time in leadership and progress within the organization. The NBAA welcomed the appointment. The two organizations have partnered each year for the production of the European Business Aviation Convention andamp; Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland since 2001. The annual event brings together aviation professionals from all over Europe and the world. The organizations often collaborate on issues impacting the industry, including those relating to safety, sustainability, security and workforce development. "NBAA joins the rest of the aviation community in welcoming Holger Krahmer as EBAA secretary-general," NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said. "Holger brings to the position a background in both government service and transportation-sector advocacy. His ability to leverage effective partnerships will serve the industry well, especially at a moment characterized by significant challenges and promising opportunities. We look forward to working with him and his team to advance our shared priorities in Europe and around the world." Krahmer is succeeding the previous EBAA Secretary-General Athar Husain Khan, who passed away earlier this year. Khan unexpectedly passed away at the age of 60 on March 26. He was a private pilot and lawyer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He was appointed to his role in July 2018. Krahmer will take over on Jan. 1, 2024. "Being intimately familiar with the challenges of the European transportation sector and how the European institutions work," Krahmer said. "I look forward to this exciting position and I am well aware of the huge tasks that lie ahead to ensure that Business Aviation will continue to thrive, connect regions and enable economic and societal development as well as serve as an incubator for innovations to the overall aviation industry."
