Eve Air Mobility names 3 new suppliers

Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer, named three new suppliers for its eVTOL aircraft. Garmin will supply the avionics, Liebherr-Aerospace will supply the flight control actuators and Intergalactic will provide the thermal management system. "We are looking forward to working with each of our suppliers as we progress with our eVTOL development," Eve CEO Johann Bordais said. "Each of our suppliers undergoes a very stringent review that evaluates not only performance and quality of their product, but also their dedication to continuous improvement and customer support and satisfaction. We are looking forward to a long-term working relationship with each of our suppliers." Garmin will supply its G3000 Integrated Flight Deck for the eVTOL. The flight deck will feature large-format, lightweight and high-resolution glass displays, integrating with Eve's vehicle management and flight control systems. Garmin tailored the flight deck to fit the needs of the eVTOL. The flight deck's intuitive touchscreen interface can reduce pilot workload by providing direct access to a wide range of avionics capabilities like an integrated flight management system, NAV/COM radios, transponder, audio management and access to a range of applications including checklists, charts, synoptics and full-featured maps.RELATED STORIES:Emerging eVTOL companies announce latest achievements, partnerships at Paris Air ShowEve plans debut at Paris Air Show with cabin mock-up Eve completes propeller testing on eVTOL, updates completion timelineEve completes wind tunnel testing for its eVTOLLiebherr will develop electromechanical actuators for the fly-by-wire controls of the eVTOL. The company has experience in manufacturing precision gears and dependable actuation. These features are crucial to the development of this type of technology. The actuators will be powered by the aircraft's electrical system and the technology will guarantee high performance, easier maintenance and configurability. Intergalactic will provide a thermal management system to maintain an optimal temperature range for equipment, including batteries and important electrical components. The system will ensure that the cabin of the eVTOL aircraft remains at a comfortable temperature for passengers. Eve announced three additional suppliers at the Paris Air Show in June. At the event, Eve shared that its first three suppliers were Nidec Aerospace, providing the electric propulsion system; BAE Systems, providing an advanced energy storage system; and DUC Hélice Propeller, which will supply the propellers and rotors. Eve's aircraft uses a lift+cruise configuration, along with eight dedicated propellers for vertical flight and fixed wings for flying on cruise, without any changes to the position of these components during flight. Additionally, there is an electric pusher powered by dual electric motors which provide propulsion redundancy and ensure high performance and safety. The eVTOL has been developed with a lower cost of operation, fewer parts, optimized structures and systems, efficient thrust and low sound. In July, Eve announced its first eVTOL production facility would be in the city of Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The company has begun assembling its first full-scale eVTOL prototype, which will be followed by a test campaign in 2024. The eVTOL is expected to enter into service and begin deliveries in 2026.
