Eve, Flexjet partner to advance urban air mobility through software simulation

On Thursday Eve Air Mobility announced it would be partnering with global private aviation leader Flexjet to advance the progression of Urban Air Mobility. Through a collaborative partnership, the two companies will conduct an initial software simulation of Eve's Urban Air Traffic Management solution. This initiative has validated and refined the software through user testing and feedback on the interface and industry value. London is a major helicopter market and an area of focus for future eVTOL operations. The simulations occurred during a four-day period at Flexjet's Tactical Control Center at the Farnborough Airport. Eve's Urban ATM software shadowed life helicopter flights operated by Flexjet's UK helicopter division, performing services that are crucial to enabling future UAM operations. Flexjet operates a fleet with 11 helicopters and its group of companies is one of Eve's Urban ATM Fleet Operator customers. Flexjet will provide its helicopter fleet to perform flights and work with Eve's Urban ATM team. NATS, a UK provider of air traffic control services, and the London Heliport supported the initiative with additional feedback to help ensure that Eve's solution will bring the greatest value to all UAM ecosystem participants. "This collaboration with Flexjet represents a significant step forward in our efforts to advance urban air mobility," Eve CEO Johann Bordais said. "We are committed to exploring innovative solutions that will enhance current operations and contribute to the future of urban flights." The initiative included aspects of operations, including standard business operations, atypical scenarios and flights specifically tailored to an eVTOL's specific needs. These different aspects enabled demonstrations that showed product behavior in real-world situations. The primary focus of the test is the integration of vertiports to efficiently manage resources as well as to verify and confirm a subset of Urban ATM product capabilities with an emphasis on the UAM fleet operator support tool.Eve's objectives are to provide insight into what services are required to support the future of eVTOL operations. The testing would also look into whether these new services have any immediate value for existing helicopter operations. After the simulation, Eve and Flexjet will review the findings and determine recommendations to improve, change or integrate potential requirements. The companies will continue exploring new opportunities for the further integration of existing software tools to enhance the potential of Urban ATM solutions. "We were delighted to provide Flexjet's UK helicopter expertise and to play a key role in forging the UAM ecosystem of tomorrow, helping to inform the movements of the next generation of vertical aircraft," said Eli Flint, Flexjet president of global helicopter operations. "Flexjet is dedicated to advancing the aviation solutions that will meet our customers' needs over the coming years, and we are excited by the potential of eVTOLs for seamless and sustainable electric short-range flights." @globalair.com Eve and Flexjet have partnered to advance Urban Air Mobility through software simulation testing.
