Sheltair breaks ground on hangar expansion in Florida

Sheltair has begun the expansion of existing hangar facilities at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM). Since 2001 Sheltair has built and currently manages about 115,973 total square feet, consisting of 86 individual hangar units. The family-owned company is expanding its facilities due to an increasing need for aircraft storage at ISM. Sheltair began construction of its Phase IV development, a multi-million-dollar project covering 2.70 acres and consisting of three additional hangars. The three new hangars will include nine oversized t-hangars, providing 17,622 square feet of space and 10 box hangars measuring 50ft x 50 ft with a combined square footage of 25,000. "This new expansion is a significant investment that reflects the company's long-term commitment to the City of Kissimmee and the Airport," Sheltair COO Todd Anderson said. "It further supports driving additional economic growth for the airport and community." The new hangars will be large enough to accommodate most single and light twin aircraft and will be equipped with hydraulic doors to meet the needs of modern-day pilots. Osceola County is continuing to grow as a hub for technology and agriculture. ISM serves as a gateway to an expanding business sector and is the closest airport to many of Florida's great attractions. Construction of the new hangars is expected to be completed by early summer of 2024. In September, Sheltair completed the construction of a new hangar and office facility at its Tampa (TPA) FBO location after 18 months and $26 million. Four hangars were constructed with attached office space and covered parking. On April 2 the company opened a new location at the Gwinnett County Airport (LZU), making it the 16th location for Sheltair and its second in Georgia. The hangar complex included an FBO terminal and 208,000 square feet of hangars, ranging from general aviation t-hangars to 28' door corporate hangars.RELATED STORIES:Sheltair completes hangar expansion in TampaSheltair opens 16th FBO locationAt ISM, Sheltair customers are just eight miles from theme parks and ten miles from the Orlando-Orange County Convention Center.
