Duncan Aviation shared Wednesday that it welcomed the first two business jets into its new, state-of-the-art maintenance hangars at the Lincoln, Nebraska (LNK) and Battle Creek, Michigan (BTL) MRO locations. On Feb. 5 a Bombardier Global 5000 was brought into the new Lincoln hangar and on Feb. 9 a Challenger 300 was pulled into the new hangar in Battle Creek.
Both of the hangar projects broke ground in 2022 and feature a 46,000-square-foot maintenance hangar with 32-foot-high hangar doors and an additional 62,000-square-foot two-floor addition for storage and backshops. Duncan worked closely with Tectonic Management Group to use the latest in green construction technologies for both of the locations. The sustainable features include light harvesting, radiant floor heating powered by energy-efficient boilers, LED lighting fixtures with sensors and automatic dimming capabilities. As bizjets continue to increase in size, hangar capacity is growing more restrictive. Jeff Lake, President and CEO of Duncan Aviation, said the official opening was crucial to staying competitive. Lake said the hangars will give Duncan flexibility, but will likely fill up fast.
"We did not build these hangars to gain market share, but to maintain the market share we have in a growing industry," Lake said.
