RADIANT Technology introduces new instrument: digital altimeter / VSI combo

RADIANT Technology introduces a new digital Altimeter + VSI Combo to its line of lightweight, affordable instrumentation for experimental and ultralight aircraft. The instrument offers more features, a clearer display, and better value for the price. In addition, RADIANT is increasing its warranty period to three years for this new instrument, allowing more time for experimental builders to design their instrument panels with factory warranty support. This new instrument is available in standard 2 ¼" and 3 1/8" panel formats. Pricing is set at $119.95 MSRP, which is $180 lower in price than the original GEN-2 Digital Altimeter. (The 3 1/8" format costs an additional $10.) Altitude and vertical speed are clearly shown in both digital and replica analog formats. The display used in these products is bright and clear. RADIANT has also improved the internal numerical font representation, resulting in smooth, clear, and visible digital numbers. Also added is support for the larger 3 1/8" panel cutout. The overall thickness of the unit is also reduced to less than ½" (not including electrical connectors or panel thickness). In a nutshell, this new product is similar to, yet distinct from, RADIANT's older GEN-2 Digital Altimeter. It has an improved screen representation but does not include a barb adapter or an external temperature probe. James Wiebe, CEO of RADIANT Technology, said: "This new Altimeter and VSI offers functionality, good looks, and great value, along with a three-year warranty." Wiebe continued: "This product also takes advantage of RADIANT Technology's growing reputation, leveraging higher volume production to reduce our costs." Additional specifications and features of the product line include: • Unit weight of approximately 2 ounces (~57 grams). • Units are available for 2 ¼" or 3 1/8" panel cutouts. • Power Requirement is 6.5 to 14 volts @ 125ma. This product will run off a 9-volt alkaline battery. The power must be externally switched, EG, through master avionics power switch. • For use in experimental and ultralight aircraft. May also be used in LSA aircraft with manufacturer approval. • Cases are 3D printed in black nylon. • Dimmable. (External potentiometer NOT included). • 3-year warranty allows more time to build panel and test The list of part numbers, functions, and prices are as follows: • RI-2024-1 Altimeter and VSI for 2 ¼", $119.95 (Requires extended panel cutout to display entire rectangular screen.) • RI-2024-2 Altimeter and VSI for 3 1/8", $129.95. Includes adapter and screws. Availability is stock to four weeks ARO. These products are available from Aircraft Spruce and directly from Radiant here.About RADIANT Technology RADIANT Technology is focused on providing products that "Enable Adventure" for all who enjoy and use aviation: pilots, passengers, radio listeners, and every adventurer at heart. About James Wiebe James Wiebe is a serial entrepreneur, with RADIANT Technology being his latest startup (or startover). In the 80s and 90s, James grew Newer Technology to be the largest Macintosh CPU upgrade company on the planet (over 250k accelerators sold; Steve Jobs was not a fan). In 2000, James started and eventually sold WiebeTech, a forensic technology company. James holds four patents and is an instrument-rated pilot with about 2100 flight hours in many different aircraft. James' proudest achievement is being the father of two twin grandbabies, along with a third baby, all in 2022! James is supported by Kathy, who provides support, guidance, and love. James is also supported by a little dog named Cocoa, who wandered into his and Kathy's lives after a tough start to life in the wild fields near Wichita, KS. Read more about James Wiebe here.
