According to ABC 7 Los Angeles, Grammy-winning Colombian artist Karol G's plane took off from Burbank airport with 16 people on board, turning around after it reached the Cajon Pass when the pilot reported a midair problem. The plane made a smooth landing at VNY around 9 p.m. and everyone on board exited without injury. Aviation Safety Network reported that the singer's plane was heading to San Salvador Airport in El Salvador. She is reportedly on a tour in Latin America and her next scheduled date is in Guatemala on Friday.
The jet has a barbed wire heart painted on it to match the singer's tattoo, seen in photos captured after the landing. Video and pictures afterward captured the singer exiting the plane, hugging people on the ground and speaking on the phone. The aircraft in question is reported to be serial number 1500, which would technically make it a Gulfstream G400, a latter variant of the GIV not to be confused with the upcoming reimagined G400 in development. According to GlobalAir.com archives, the G-IV entered into service with serial number 1000 in 1987 and was upgraded in 1993 to the special-purpose GIV-SP version at serial number 1214. It was later redesignated G400 at serial number 1500. The incident aircraft was manufactured in 2004, with its interior and exterior refurbished in 2017, according to Central Jets.
