Piper M700 FURY achieves FAA type certification

Piper shared Monday that the new Piper M700 FURY achieved FAA-type certification on Feb. 29. With type certification complete, customer deliveries will begin immediately. The M700 achieved type certification just weeks after Piper unveiled the new model in its PA46 line on Feb. 6. The single-engine, 700-shaft horsepower cabin-class turboprop represents a new generation of the M-Class family. The M700 has a maximum cruise speed of 301 knots and a maximum range of 1,424 nm. The turboprop is the fastest single-engine aircraft in Piper's 87-year history. The plane is equipped with Pratt andamp; Whitney's PT6A-52 engine, which generates 700 shaft horsepower. Pilots can experience the latest in modern avionics with the Garmin G3000 cockpit, including the Garmin Emergency Autoland as part of Piper's HALO safety system.RELATED STORY:Piper Aircraft unveils new M700 FURY The M700 FURY has a class-leading TOFL distance over a 50 ft obstacle at SL with 1,994 feet. There is a 24 percent increase, at 641 feet, compared to the M600 SLS. The TOFL performance is 38 percent shorter than a competing single-engine jet, at 1,198 feet. After MGROW departure, the M700 has a class-leading climb rate ranking 32 percent better than the M600 at 2,048 fpm. When the M700 settles into a climb it can reach FL250 34 percent quicker than the M600, in just 13.9 minutes. The new M700 can achieve the short 34-mile distance, 35 percent less than before, while burning 25 percent less fuel than the M600 (97 lbs) and almost 50 percent less fuel than a single-engine jet competitor. The newest generation in the M-Class family can achieve class-leading performance when landing over a 50 ft obstacle, achieving a 26 percent reduction compared to the previous generation and within half the ground roll distance of some competitors. The Piper M700 FURY international validations for Canada (TCCA), Europe (EASA), the UK (CAA) and Brazil (ANAC) are on pace to be completed in the second half of 2024, with customer deliveries expected in those regions by the end of the year. "We are thrilled to announce the U.S. certification of the Piper M700 FURY by the FAA just a month after its announcement," Piper President and CEO John Calcagno said. "And there's more to come. The FURY is just the first step in a new generation of our M-Class product line, so watch this space, as Piper's M-Class will be expanding both above and below what we currently offer today."
