Farnborough, 18/07/2022 – Leonardo is pleased to announce that the UK charity Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) will be introducing its second AW169 helicopter for its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations. The agreement between Specialist Aviation Services and EHAAT, which was signed at the Farnborough International Airshow, includes a bespoke medical interior, in addition to other modifications to be provided by SAS.

Leonardo’s leadership in the world’s VIP/corporate multiengine helicopter market continues to grow with new orders announced at LABACE (São Paolo, 9-11 August 2022), including two AW169 light intermediate twins and one AW109 Trekker light twin engine helicopter. One AW169 and the AW109 Trekker will be delivered to a private operator in 4Q2023. An AW169 is expected to be handed over to its user in 3Q2023. The helicopters will feature highly customized configurations and interiors and will benefit from the advanced and comprehensive support solutions which will be delivered by the new Service and Logistics Centre in Itapevi.

The Austrian Ministry of Defence’s AW169M LUH helicopter programme set a major milestone today with the delivery of the first aircraft from an initial order of 18 units, based on the Italy-Austria Government-to-Government (G2G) Agreement announced by the relevant Authorities at the end of 2021. The handover of the aircraft, built at Leonardo’s Vergiate facility in Italy, achieved in line with the contractual obligations, was performed during an official ceremony held at the Tulln-Langenlebarn Brumowski Air Base, in the presence of Leonardo’s senior management. Austria and Italy also announced today a G2G Agreement amendment through which Austria is exercising options for an additional 18 helicopters, providing further evidence of its confidence in the selected platform.
