GRAND FORKS, ND – Vantis, North Dakota’s beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) system, has achieved another significant milestone with the approval of its first drone operator authorized to fly BVLOS across all four Vantis operational volumes, or service areas. ISight Drone Services has received a Part 107 BVLOS waiver, expanding its approved operations into eastern North Dakota and enabling statewide service volumes across Vantis’ more than 5,000 square miles.

On May 16, 2026, about 0950 central daylight time, a Vertical Aviation Technologies 300L Hummingbird helicopter, N284ST, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Lee’s Summit, Missouri. One passenger sustained minor injuries. The pilot and second passenger were not injured. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

TORRANCE, CA AND NEW IBERIA, LA., SEPTEMBER 8, 2026 — Last week, the Robinson Unmanned R44 AIRTRUCK, an unmanned, remotely piloted cargo helicopter, completed a series of demonstration flights at Acadiana Regional Airport (KARA) in New Iberia, LA. The flights were conducted September 2 and 3 by Aviation Academy of Louisiana (AAL), an authorized Robinson dealer and service center, with PHI Aviation and invited industry, government, and observers in attendance.
