Metro Aviation is seeking a Hangar Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Indiana University Health Lifeline program. The Hangar Manager is a supervisory role managing all hangar maintenance activity and reports to the Program Lead Technician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains a close liaison with the Program Lead Technician to provide current status of aircraft maintenance events in progress and forecasts downtime.
  • Provides planning, management and oversight of the Program Maintenance facilities, maintenance activity and Program assigned Maintenance Technicians.
  • The Hangar Manager retains Supervisory responsibility for the assigned Hangar Maintenance Technicians.
  • Managing all inspection and maintenance events occurring within the Program Maintenance Facility.
  • Ensures proper sequencing of all aircraft maintenance activity and inspection events.
  • The Hangar Manager is a team leader that should recognize strengths and weaknesses of the hangar maintenance staff, make adaptations, and continually develop each individual through hands on training or real time OJT.
  • Assists with aircraft technical support, maintenance planning of daily tasks, short and long term planning of all hangar level maintenance activity within the assigned program.
  • Ensures Company aircraft are maintained in accordance with the Airworthiness Standards prescribed by applicable Regulations, Airworthiness Directives and Metro Aviation's policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for company Maintenance Technicians to be properly qualified and trained for their respective assignments.
  • Responsible for logging, tracking, and keeping current inspection status with daily close of business reports on the Company Intranet Portal.
  • Ensures all necessary work order documents are completed, accurate and maintained in accordance with Metro Aviation GOM.
  • Ensuring the hangar environment is operating under conditions that promote safety and compliance with company standards and OSHA Requirements.
  • Training and promoting the professional development of the assigned Maintenance Technicians.
  • Overseeing the execution of all duties assigned to his/her subordinates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Current FAA Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic Certificate; Inspection Authorization a plus
  • At least three (3) years' experience working with turbine-powered rotor or fixed-wing aircraft
  • At least three (3) years' experience in specific model aircraft and Part 135 operations preferred
  • Honesty, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining safe, compliant aircraft

  • Sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Effective maintenance planning and scheduling skills
  • Strong electrical and avionics troubleshooting ability
  • Technology savvy and ability to learn and adapt to various software platforms

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Dependent upon location - indoor/outdoor aircraft hangar or shop with potentially extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Bending, squatting, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Frequent usage of hands, wrists, shoulders, and back is necessary
  • Ability to conduct activities requiring a moderate to a rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting
  • Working on ladders and/or work stands of 12 feet or less in confined spaces
  • Specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Sufficient hearing ability to safely perform the essential functions
  • Potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include high visibility clothing, ear and eye protection, etc., when required
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
