NTSB Final Report: Shady Cove, OR

On September 01, 2022, about 0735 Pacific daylight time, a Sikorsky S-61N helicopter, N617CK, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near White City, Oregon. The two pilots and a ground support team member sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 133 rotorcraft external load flight.

NTSB Final Report: Morgan City, LA

On October 26, 2022, about 1711 central daylight time, a Bell 407 helicopter, N34BM, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident in the Gulf of Mexico, about 25 miles south of Morgan City, Louisiana. The pilot sustained fatal injuries, and two passengers sustained serious injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air taxi flight.

Sikorsky Receives FAA Certification for Life Extension of S-92A Main Gear Box Housing

STRATFORD, Conn., Sept. 17, 2024 – Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT), announced that it has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification to offer a one-time life extension for specific main gear box housings on its S-92 helicopters. By leveraging the Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) data collected from Sikorsky’s unmatched S-92 fleet - representing more than 300 aircraft and 2.3 million fleet flight hours - the company developed a methodology to more accurately determine the life-limit for parts and help alleviate supply chain issues affecting the industry.
