Helping Further the Education for Future Aerospace Professionals
COLLEYVILLE, TEXAS – August 20, 2024: The Jeff Pino Foundation (JPF) is pleased to announce the selection of five scholarship recipients from the 2024 high school graduating class. Each recipient has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship to either pursue a college degree in an aviation-related field, obtain a pilot’s license, or earn a certificate in aircraft maintenance.
The Foundation established the scholarship program in 2019 for high school seniors who demonstrated academic achievement and a passion for aviation. The scholarship committee is composed of judges from both the aerospace industry and the field of education. Candidates must submit high school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and write several essays that enable the committee to understand the student’s background and goals the student holds for the future.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the Jeff Pino Foundation and its scholarship program. My brother often spoke of wanting to help students, most notably those who showed an interest in aviation,” said Cindy Pino, JPF board member and scholarship committee member. “I know that the foundation, and its focus to reach young people of all ages through our numerous programs, including the scholarships we award each year, are exactly what Jeff envisioned.”
JPF has awarded over $250,000 in scholarship money to date, with over 25 high school seniors awarded $10,000 each. Of the initial five recipients who were selected in 2019, two are now employed as engineers for a large aerospace and defense technology company, one is an air traffic controller, and two are pursuing their advanced degrees in aerospace engineering.
The 2024 Jeff Pino Foundation Scholarship recipients:
● Nathaniel Brown, from Grand Prairie High School in Texas, will attend Embry Riddle in Florida to concurrently earn his college degree and pursue his pilot’s license
● Bruno Carrero, a graduate of Bosano in Brazil, will attend Iowa State to study aerospace engineering
● Ulani Jackson, from Coronado High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, will attend Arizona State University to study aerospace engineering
● Jonathan Machuca, from Dubiski High School, will pursue his private pilot’s license in Grand Prairie, Texas
● Ian Zeiger, from Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, will pursue his private pilot’s license while studying aerospace engineering at Arizona State University
