LIFENET 3 RELOCATES TO NEW BASE LOCATION IN ORANGEBURG, SC

ORANGEBURG, SC, May 7, 2024 – LifeNet South Carolina announced its relocation from Medical University of South Carolina – Orangeburg to its new location next to the Orangeburg County Fire District and Orangeburg Fire Training Center. Its service area remains unchanged as the program continues providing emergency air medical care to the people of Orangeburg County and beyond.

“We are sad to leave MUSC Orangeburg after 17 years, however we are not moving far and will continue providing exceptional critical care to our community that we have served for all these years,” said Patrick Lamontagne, account executive with Air Methods, the leading air medical service provider in the nation and the parent company of LifeNet South Carolina. “The only thing changing is our location.”

In addition to crew housing and a freshly poured helipad, the base’s new centralized location at 190 Firefighter Lane gives LifeNet 3 greater opportunities to support their fire and EMS partners. Due to its proximity to the I-26 and I-95 corridors, it also allows for faster response times to the often-severe car accidents on these major roadways.  The dedicated critical care flight crew, which consists of a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic, stands ready to serve when called upon.

“We are excited to begin this new chapter at LifeNet Orangeburg and we look forward to continuing our great relationship with Orangeburg EMS, Orangeburg County Fire District and the surrounding counties,” said Air Methods Area Manager Jason Bober. “We will continue to provide the same great patient care as before. The only change is that we will be launching from a new and improved location.”

Along with its sister bases in Camden, Laurens, and Pickens, LifeNet South Carolina offers 24/7/365 critical care transport in emergency situations, as well as interfacility transport when patients need to move between hospitals for specialized care. With blood stocked on board the aircraft, the fully staffed crew of industry-leading trauma clinicians can administer it to patients in-flight when there is a risk of severe blood loss and hemorrhagic shock.

LifeNet’s flight nurses and flight paramedics are extensively trained through Air Methods Ascend, an in-person and online training program that allows clinicians to perform at the top of their licensure, providing the highest level of prehospital care, and enabling clinicians to work in lockstep across the region no matter the community they serve. Ascend is available to all medical personnel across the nation.
