The NBAA announced that FAA Deputy Administrator Katie Thomson and NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy will be participating in a panel discussion during the Day 1 Keynote session at 2023 NBAA-BACE. The convention is taking place Oct. 17-19 in Las Vegas and the Day 1 Keynote will begin at 8:30 am on Tuesday Oct. 17.
Among the discussion topics is the FAA reauthorization in Congress. This year, the House of Representatives passed a reauthorization bill containing numerous NBAA-supported provisions like the first-ever general aviation title to recognize the sector's role in the country's economy and transportation system. The bill also introduced several targeted improvements to increase the efficiency of the FAA. Safety is a key priority among regulators and industry members. Homendy will discuss the NTSB priorities. addressing how the agency will ensure America remains the gold standard in aviation safety. In February the NBAA participated in a Safety Summit alongside Homendy, convened by then Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen.
Thomson and Homendy will share their perspectives on challenges facing the industry including security, sustainability, safety, innovation and workforce development.
