Gulfstream completes manufacturing facility expansion in Savannah

On Tuesday Gulfstream announced it completed its latest expansion with a Savannah-based precision manufacturing facility for the Gulfstream G400, G500 and G600 aircraft. The expansion will increase the facility's capacity by 142,000 square feet. "Gulfstream continues to invest across all our facilities, including in Savannah, our headquarters for more than 50 years," Gulfstream President Mark Burns said. "We designed the G400, G500 and G600 to have a number of commonalities that increase both operational and manufacturing efficiencies. Those commonalities mean that we have the flexibility to easily expand production lines to meet the growing demand for these aircraft, which also increases job growth across the region." The production methods for the G400, G500 and G600 were designed with the Savannah-based research and development team and include 3D model designs, robotic and bonding techniques and advanced automation. This combination of features from the Gulfstream team has resulted in unparalleled quality and accuracy. The latest growth is part of the overall Gulfstream strategic plan. The manufacturing growth in Savannah has included the expansion of its wing and empennage production and Customer Support service center. The latest investments amass $150 million and are anticipated to add 1,600 new jobs to the region. As well as the expansions in Savannah, Gulfstream has increased aircraft outfitting capabilities in Appleton, Wisconsin and St. Louis Downtown Airport in Illinois. Gulfstream is continuing to expand its Customer Support operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Mesa, Arizona.RELATED STORIES:Gulfstream continues service expansions in SavannahGulfstream opens new facility in WisconsinGulfstream plans another expansion in Fort Worth"The technological advancements in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities help us deliver the highest quality product in the industry, built by the industry's most talented workforce," Burns said.
