Business aviation boosts commerce, air travel during holiday season

The holiday season has begun, and with it begins the busiest time of the year for travel. With Thanksgiving and the December holidays, business aviation provides a boost to many communities across the country, supporting commerce and access to air travel.Business aviation provides a travel link to many communities with little or no access to airline services. Through the bizav industry, smaller communities can connect with friends and family, or businesses can connect with clients and customers. Private or corporate aircraft can access the smaller community airports away from the major hubs. Smaller jets and aircraft can access more airports than commercial planes, giving the private and corporate aviation world access to more communities in need of air travel. Using the smaller community airports allows holiday travelers to avoid much of the airline traffic seen across the country ahead of Thanksgiving and the December holidays.RELATED STORY:Flying on Thanksgiving About one percent of the traffic at the largest airports in the country stems from business aviation. Delays seen in commercial travel are a rare, almost non-existent occurrence in private aviation. Most delays in bizav travel are due to weather and the airlines. According to the NBAA, independent research indicates that most companies using a business aircraft employ fewer than 500 people; the passengers on board are typically technical specialists, managers and other company employees; and a large portion of bizav flights are for humanitarian missions. The business aviation sector also contributes to the economy, supporting 1.2 million jobs and contributing $150 billion to the U.S. economy every year. Business aviation is growing and will continue to expand in the coming years. This sector of a crucial industry is a key component in the country's economy and transportation system. Business aviation provides an alternative method of air travel during one of the busiest times of the year and supports commerce during the busiest shopping season of the year. Don't be a Grinch this year and enjoy your holiday season with the help of business aviation.
