Cirrus unveils new SR Series G7 aircraft

Cirrus Aircraft unveiled the new SR Series G7 aircraft on Thursday night. With the latest in technology and a sleek design, the G7 will redefine personal aviation. The newest generation aircraft will feature touchscreen interfaces, large high-resolution displays, advanced safety systems, improved visibility, increased legroom, enhanced convenience features and the Cirrus IQ mobile app. The G7 will integrate a high-tech intuitive touchscreen-controlled flight deck with a comfortable and aesthetic cabin. The flight deck will reduce pilot workload and offer enhanced situational awareness for pilots and passengers. With the popular SR Series and Vision Jet, Cirrus has defined personal aviation by aligning the flight deck, cabin experiences and training programs like the Private Pilot Program, which provide a clear progression in flight from the learning stage and owning an SR Series aircraft to piloting a Vision Jet. "Our mission is to increase participation in aviation so more people can benefit from the freedom, productivity and joy it provides," Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen said. "We have also developed a comprehensive ecosystem providing global sales, flight training, maintenance and support to ensure our owners have a seamless ownership experience. Our aircraft are truly designed with people in mind and the new SR Series G7 is a testament to that philosophy. Our team and our aircraft provide a clear path to enter and advance within the personal aviation community by learning how to fly and eventually transition to the Vision Jet with ease." The latest generation in the best-selling single-engine piston aircraft family, the G7, is a continuation of the high-performing SR Series product line. Cirrus has delivered nearly 10,000 TRAC/20/22/22T, SR20, SR22 and SR22T. The SR Series product line continues to lead in the high-performance, single-engine piston market and has a history of industry-first achievements. The SR20 was first delivered in 1999 and is now a part of the "We All Fly" exhibition at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The innovative aircraft changed the industry with its 10" multi-function display and later with the added complete glass flight deck and very first primary flight display in a small, certified aircraft. The many technological advances that revolutionized the aviation industry and improved safety while simplifying how pilots navigate changed the aviation landscape. The SR Series G7 features the advanced Cirrus Perspective Touch+ by Garmin. Cirrus Perspective Touch+ is the most advanced flight deck in the industry and is the first-ever piston aircraft to utilize dual Garmin Touch Controllers. The system provides a larger, high-resolution display with expanded systems integration to allow for a more intuitive flight deck experience. With the system, there is a reduction in the pilot workload and an increase in situational awareness. The comfortable and stylish interior offers a refined inflight experience to the passenger and pilot. The interior increased the comfort for each occupant with the easy-to-see and understand flight details like current position, fuel level and destination arrival time. The Perspective Touch+ flight deck integrates more systems. Now the system uses larger, high-resolution 12" or optional 14" widescreen displays. There are Garmin Touchscreen Controllers with intuitive icons and a shallow menu structure. The system includes CAS-linked checklists and Checklist Scroll Wheel to navigate through checklists with ease. The Taxiway Routing and 3D SafeTaxi features help to simplify airport ground navigation. Both pilot and passenger can enjoy a comfortable cabin with sleek, reimagined interiors. The G7 cabin integrates luxury and comfort with innovative design. The interior includes auto-inspired features and ergonomics. There is a new push button start to modernize the G7 ignition and an automatic fuel selector system to make fuel management easier by automatically switching between fuel tanks every five gallons. The redesigned interior panels feature dimmable task lights and ambient accent lighting. There are sturdy cup holders, pockets and two center console compartments to keep the cabin organized and accessible. The powered headset jacks and lighted high-power USB-C outlets are also carefully positioned to be in easy reach of each occupant to stay connected during the flight. The 2024 SR Series G7 will also feature a limited-edition aesthetic package and five new exterior and premium interior aesthetic options. The Cirrus Airframe Parachute System revolutionized safety with an industry-defining standard on all Cirrus aircraft. The company now introduces additional safety systems to the G7 like the taxiway routing and 3D SafeTaxi to provide increased awareness in an airport environment. The G7 also features a stick shaker for enhanced low-speed situational awareness where the pilot and copilot are alerted through a vibration in the yoke to warn of an imminent stall. The flap airspeed protection will monitor airspeed to prevent the accidental deployment of retracting flaps when the plane is traveling too fast or slow for flap configuration changes. With the Perspective Touch+, there is improved integration of the aircraft systems to increase pilot awareness of aircraft health and to add other noteworthy safety features. The aircraft systems synoptic pages will display a visual blueprint of the health and status of the aircraft systems like fuel, electrical and ice protection. The Cirrus IQ mobile app will check for key aircraft readiness items like maintenance, technical publications, trip achievements, real-time status of fuel and oxygen levels, aircraft location and flight hours. The mobile app will allow you real-time health and headiness indications for your aircraft to allow you to travel safer, faster and smarter. The new SR Series G7 will continue to raise the bar as a modern flight training aircraft. Cirrus is proud to partner with the Western Michigan University College of Aviation as the first collegiate program to take delivery of the new TRAC20 G7 for student flight training in 2024. "Over the years, Cirrus Aircraft has continuously advanced its product lines while ensuring quality, performance and safety are paramount," said Pat Waddick, president of innovation and operations at Cirrus Aircraft. "The SR Series G7 adds new avionics and autonomous interfaces coupled with all-new styling and comfort. It is the culmination of seamless collaboration between customer, innovation and operations to develop an aircraft with technological and generational advancements that make flying truly exceptional for all."
