A total solar eclipse is forecast for 8 April 2024. The path of totality will cover portions of Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York. The eclipse is expected to be the most visible total solar eclipse in over 100 years and result in a large influx of spectators. Many of these visitors will be flying to various airports within and around the path of totality. It is advised that you contact the airport/FBO prior to arrival to ensure adequate space is available for your aircraft. Please check all NOTAM and advisory messages referencing the eclipse and your destination beginning Friday 5 April 2024 through Wednesday 10 April 2024 as this date range will see most of the air travel expected for the event. Air traffic services may be limited due to the number of aircraft flying. Please be patient and keep radio communications concise to help reduce frequency congestion. VFR and IFR pop-up requests may not be accommodated until outside of 50NM from the path of totality. Delays may be higher with the increased demand on the system, please plan accordingly.
